Who is NULCO?

Newcastle-under-Lyme Community Orchestra (NULCO) is a registered charity (No. 1216002) dedicated to bringing the joy of music to the local community. Since our very first rehearsal in 2016, we have continued to grow, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for musicians to rediscover their passion for playing or continue developing their musical skills.

NULCO is a friendly community orchestra that welcomes musicians from Newcastle-under-Lyme and the surrounding areas. We are open to players of all orchestral instruments who can read basic music, regardless of age or experience. Whether you've been playing for years or are returning to your instrument after a break, you'll find a warm welcome waiting for you.

More than just an orchestra, NULCO is one big musical family. Our members support and encourage one another, creating an inclusive atmosphere where friendships flourish alongside music-making. Everyone is always willing to lend a helping hand, making rehearsals enjoyable, relaxed, and rewarding.

Our repertoire is as diverse as our membership. We perform everything from classical masterpieces and light orchestral works to film and television music, musical theatre, popular songs, and contemporary favourites, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Throughout the year we present two flagship concerts—our Summer Concert and our much-loved Christmas Concert. In addition, we regularly perform at community events, charity fundraisers, and busking opportunities, helping to bring live music to audiences across the local area while supporting our charitable mission.
